I received the GLOBAL CITIZEN SCHOLARSHIP.
I will join 16 other Global SDG Leaders at the Ban Ki-Moon Centre for Global Citizens.
In 2021, I enrolled for, and completed my first leadership training; United People Global Suitability Leadership Course, a 9-week remote course offered by United People Global, in Geneva - Switzerland.
Although this was not my first time learning about leadership, it was a unique opportunity for me to immerse myself in a global community of leaders, bounce ideas off each other, and receive mentorship from seasoned experts including globally renowned leaders and entrepreneurs.
One phrase I took away from the UPG program is this: “Think Global, Act Local “
This emphasizes the importance of taking actionable steps toward the realization of a grand objective and has been a core philosophy of our work at e-Mentor.
It’s a philosophy that encourages the cultivation of humility in the pursuit of ambition and a commitment to a bottom-up leadership approach.
Recently, I was awarded the Global Citizen Scholarship not only as a testament to my unwavering vision to empower internally displaced students in conflict zones by enabling access to affordable quality education through e-Mentor, but also as a recognition of the impact of my work on a global scale.
I was excited to be on the front page of one of Cameroon’s most prominent media outlets, The Horizon.
Here is an excerpt from the The Horizon publication:
“The Global Citizen Scholarship, renowned for its mission to empower young changemakers engaged in SDG initiatives, has selected Titus as one of its 17 scholars for 2024 from a competitive pool of 700+ applicants across the continent. This prestigious program offers a tailored package of academic training, networking experiences, and mentorship opportunities, designed to nurture the growth and impact of emerging leaders like Titus on a global scale.“
I am excited about the opportunity to meet African SDG leaders, exchange experiences and share best practices while furthering the cause of our work.
Across my leadership and entrepreneurial career, one really important lesson I have learned is this: identify a problem (in your community, country, or even continent), and create a solution to it.
Pursue a vision that is bigger than yourself and watch the impossible suddenly become possible.
Like the Holy Bible says: “A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men“.
What is your gift?
As this next phase of my career unfolds, I remain indebted to my mentors, peers, colleagues, well-wishers, and collaborators.
Now, more than ever, I am resolute to equipping the next generation of young leaders, by imparting my knowledge and experience through mentorship and coaching.
Thank you for reading.
Do not forget to:
Cheers!
Congratulations Titus
