For the past 7 days I have been in Geneva, Switzerland after being selected as one of the 3 global winners to receive the Globethics Youth Leadership Award at the Global Ethics Forum for my leadership traction and vision for the future.
This was one of my most significant career shaping experiences for two main reasons.
I had the unmatched opportunity to pitch our vision of democratising access to education for internally displaced students in conflict affected regions. This was the highlight of my experience.
I also got to meet and network with industry leaders, founders, policy experts entrepreneurs, and potential collaborators and partners.
Receiving the Globethics Youth Leadership from Fadi Daou, Executive Director at Globethics.
With discussions centred on Ethical Leadership, issues such as Ethical Leadership in times of uncertainties, Social Capital for Peace, Philanthropy for Sustainable Development, and the Role of Youth in Accelerating Sustainable Development were dissected.
With my lovely co-awardees, Aishworya (Nepal) and Stanley (Nigeria).
It goes without saying that I loved my experience in Geneva.
I could notice several cultural differences, being in Europe for my first time. One of them was the fact that most of the Swiss I came in contact with often literally, went out of their way to offer a helping hand.
I interacted with the locals, visited some restaurants and even visited an Asian bar.
PS: The Asians do know how to party :)
