What if, for once, you acted as though you had no choice but to succeed?
Let me tell you a story.
During the Apollo 13 Mission in 1970, engineers experienced a casualty that put them right on the line between life and death.
The Oxygen tank exploded.
Deep in space, with no backup, they had to employ their ingenuity to improvise life support equipment until they safely landed back on Earth.
Although the mission was aborted, no one died.
These engineers understood one thing: we have no choice but to find a way to survive.
Although we may not be faced with life-threatening scenarios like these on a day-to-day basis, choosing to approach life with this mindset will enable you to reach heights in your career you never thought possible.
But here is the plot twist;
We all have no choice.
Death is coming for every one of us, and whether we like it or not, it is a fate we will all arrive at. The question is this; what will you do with the time you have on this planet?
Deciding to be honest with yourself about the fate you will face if you do not make the best of the time you have now, will wake you up to the reality of the fragility of your life.
What will happen if I fail?
What will happen if I do not work incessantly towards my dreams on a daily basis?
What will become of my family if I fail?
Usually, the response to this question will provide both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation you need to take action on your goals.
One thing I tell myself every day is that; I have to make this work.
I cannot fail. I am now allowed to fail. I am not allowed to let temporary setbacks get in my way.
Please understand.
I come from a low-income family of 8, and both my parents did not have the opportunity to have a secondary school education.
I am the first person in my family to have gotten a university education.
I have no backup plan and no support.
If I fail, I am fucked.
If I fail, my family is fucked.
If I fail, my community is fucked.
I have no choice but to succeed.
You have no choice but to succeed.
Cheers!
Indeed we have no choice but to find a burden that's worth carrying.
A burden that might life better for us, our families, and the Community at large.
This article is a wake-up call.
This article is a wake-up call. It has got me so motivated to realizing my dreams without excuses. Every day I ask myself 'what will happen if I fail?' and the thought of it makes me tell myself 'I can't afford to fail, I must succeed'.
